Tungsten-lanthanum oxide

Tungsten-Lanthanum oxide (TL)

Lanthanum oxide – an additive that raises the bar. This combination gives tungsten better machinability.

Schunk_Ele

When tungsten is alloyed with small additions of lanthanum oxide (La₂O₃), its creep resistance and recrystallization temperature are increased. Tungsten-lanthanum oxide is easier to machine than chemically pure tungsten. TL is an ideal material for applications such as ion sources, welding electrodes, and contact electrodes.
