With densities ranging from 17 to almost 19 g/cm3 and its high absorption capacity of x-rays and gamma rays, our NHT THM is ideally suited as a material for collimators and shields used in radiation therapy. Our tungsten alloys have outstanding stability and deformation properties in comparison to lead. They can be readily machined and permit complex geometries to meet your needs and drawing requirements.
As a general rule: The ability to shield against radiation increases the higher the density of a material. Elements made of tungsten heavy-metal therefore absorb x-rays and gamma rays particularly well.
