Molybdenum-copper (MoCu)
Two that searched for and found each other. This combination unites the high thermal conductivity of copper with the low thermal expansion of molybdenum.
Molybdenum is a composite material with up to 35% copper content by weight. This ideal combination unites the high thermal conductivity of copper with the low thermal expansion of molybdenum. Molybdenum-copper is exceedingly well suited as a switch contact for high-voltage and mid-voltage applications, as a component for passive heat evacuation (heat sinks), and also as electrodes for spark erosion and for resistance welding.
Properties
- The properties of molybdenum copper composites mimic those of tungsten copper composites, but are easier to machine due to their lower hardness and density, and are therefore an outstanding alternative.
- Approximately 40% lighter in weight than comparable tungsten copper composites.
- Low thermal expansion
- High thermal conductivity
Applications
- Electrodes for resistance welding
- Switchgear contacts
- Heatsink elements
Available formats
- Round rods
- Square rods
- Plates
- Sheetmetal
- Parts to customer drawing
